Ceramic art requires several steps in order to complete a finished product.
First, the artist must choose what clay body (red, brown, white, black, etc.) to design. Different clays contain ingredients that react with variation depending on the glaze.
Once the piece is created, it must dry out completely and be kiln fired to a bisque state. Then, the choice is made to finish the piece in glaze, oxide or stain. Many artists layer their glazes for a unique finish.
Finishing ceramic art can be most difficult and frustrating to the artist. This second firing is at very high temperature; anything can happen and often does. Many times happy 'accidents' present new ideas to the artist.
All of our glaze finishes are commercial grade and food safe.
